MYTH ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS POEM
Remember growing up and reciting, “Twas The Night Before Christmas”? Have you ever pondered its origin? When the cheery lines first came on the scene, the writer was merely known to be “Anonymous”, but later on somewhere in the 1800s, a man came forward by the name of Clement Moore and claimed that it was he who composed it for his children and that one day he left the poem lying around, that made his servant deliver it into the hands of the media. But after the initial hullabaloo about finding the poet, another man came forward and said that he is the rightful author. His name was Henry Livingston Jr. and he was a distant relative of Moore. Though it was never fully established as to who was telling the truth, there has been loaded evidence on the side of Livingston – his family, friends, neighbors and the Dutch references being made (Livingston was of that origin) point towards him being the creator of Christmas magic in rhyme.
