Though this game is usually associated with business transactions in the field of real estate, Monopoly was actually invented by a woman! Elizabeth Magie first created and patented a board game in 1904. However it was Charles Darrow who improved upon the game, named it Monopoly and made a lot of money when selling it to Parker Brothers. Elizabeth never got any royalties for her gaming genius.
