5. Misao Okawa
This Japanese supercentenarian was born on 5 March 1898 and died on 1 April 2015, which means that she was exactly 117 years, 27 days old! She is apparently the oldest person ever to live in Asia and the fifth oldest person to have ever lived in the world. Till the age of 110, she was able to walk on her own, but soon after that was advised to use a wheelchair to prevent falls, but that didn’t mean that she remained bound to her chair – she could propel herself. She passed away due to heart failure just within a month of her 117th birthday.
