The oldest living person in the world, this French woman was born on 21st February 1875 and died on 4th August 1997, having lived a total of 122 years, 164 days! In fact, she once joked that she was competing with Methuselah, the oldest living person from the Bible! During her lifetime, she met the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh, who she famously said was rather “dirty, badly dressed and disagreeable” at her father’s cloth shop when he came to purchase some canvas. It seems that familial marriage was rampant within her clan, and she herself wed her second cousin. Read her prolific life that was made for the matinee HERE.
