Before the days of Tinder and Skype, dating happened in an old-style deli, as a couple coyly sat opposite each other and tried to find as many things in common as possible. But there was an invention of 1957 that allowed for couples to sit in separate booths and talk over the phone, while being able to view the other person on a screen. We should totally have this for introverted, awkward people of our day and age!
