Cliff Burton – Metallica
There is nary a Metallica track that metalheads cannot sing along to and headbang with. They have had a couple of past members, one being the notorious Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. However, someone who probably would have been with the band for longer had his life not been cut short, belongs to Cliff Burton. He was one of the founding members of ‘Tallica during their earliest glory days. However, one fateful night after a bet with fellow bandmate, Kirk Hammett, they switched bunks on their tour bunks. As he lay sleeping, the bus skidded off the road and Burton was thrown out through the window with the bus landing on him. He was just 24 years old. A few other metal bands have paid tribute to Cliff and his memory lives strong through the surviving band members.
